“A perfect choice”

Smith and Company manufactures precision components for the automotive, defense, aerospace and many other industries. When they were building out their new Birmingham HQ, they immediately understood the benefits of Digital Component Construction. “We make precision components, precision machine works,” says Sherri Fairbairn, Director at Smith and Company. “We understood how it was all going to go together. We identified with the process and how y’all put everything together.”

Smith and Company worked with the Falkbuilt Birmingham Branch to create private offices, a meeting room and a big common area that take advantage of the “fabulous windows” and light pouring into the space. “I knew I wanted to keep that openness and natural light,” says Sherri. "I had a vision in my mind of what I wanted and y’all had all the components. I had a lot of questions: ‘What are you going to do about this, how does this fit?’”

Her questions were answered, the process was smooth and, in the end, everyone in the office has a nice view of the sky. “I love my office so much,” says Sherri. “I feel like we couldn’t have picked a better resource to help us pull this off and build an office. It just worked. It makes sense on so many different levels—the way it fit together and all the different components. It really was a perfect choice.”

It was a pleasure working with Sherri from design to completion -- and beyond, says Jeremy Nix, the Director of Preconstruciton at the Falkbuilt Birmingham Branch. "We have toured tons of potential clients through their space and it always wows," he says. "Sherri has been a great champion for us and we look forward to working with her again when they outgrow that space.”
