A healing environment
Calgary’s SABI Mind clinic encourages well-being + harmony
When designer Mikaela Blain started working with Falkbuilt to create interiors for SABI Mind, she had clear direction from the clinic’s owners. “They knew the energy they wanted the space to have based on the philosophy of SABI, which appreciates distinct character. They wanted the space to be extremely cozy, personal and comfortable.”
It also had to blend communal space with private treatment rooms. “The clinic relies heavily on the division of the space to blur the line between communal spaces and personal spaces. We really wanted to allow for community and privacy,” says Mikaela.
The clinic has five treatment rooms with durable Falkskin and a gorgeous central space, the SABI Room, with frosted glass that lets the light pour through. With its woodgrain Falkskin and impressive valance, the SABI Room is “one of the most beautiful features of the space," says Mikaela. "The prefabricated panels add some texture to the space."
SABI’s clients spend time in the beautiful room after treatment. “It is in this space where we add to the wrap-around experience for our clients, bringing a curated holistic approach to mental health and chronic pain treatments,” says Heesoo Cho, the clinic’s founder and managing director.
SABI Mind, which provides ketamine-assisted therapies to those suffering from mental health and chronic pain conditions, approaches “mending as an artful process, free of judgment.”
“I am grateful and humbled every time I step into the space,” Heesoo says. “All the little touches and attention to detail provide a grounding environment for our clients to feel safe and supported in their healing journey.”
