“All the little details matter“

Over ten years ago, Nima Peydayesh sat in a coffee shop, contemplating his future. Already a successful engineer, he wrote down his goal of one day starting a family business that would also make a positive impact on people's lives. His wife, Dr. Shideh Barikani, and her sister, Dr. Shiva Barikani—both dedicated dentists—were also passionate about helping people and had always dreamed of opening a family practice.

“We wanted to create something special and unique that goes above and beyond and helps people.”

Fast forward to 2024, the trio turned their vision into reality with the opening of their family-owned dental practice, Bee Family Dental Clinic. Their business was born with a commitment to providing a unique and calming experience, especially for those who struggle with dental anxiety. They strive to elevate the healthcare clinic experience, paying special attention to small details that matter, including their thoughtful “Bee Comfort Menu” which offers the option of noise-canceling headphones, stress balls, and cozy blankets to help ease patients' nerves.

“Our vision was to build a calm, relaxing space for our patients that felt like a spa rather than a typical dental clinic. Falkbuilt took it to the next level,”says Nima.

Partnering with the Falkbuilt Calgary Branch, the Bee Family Dental team brought their dream to life. From the moment patients step into the clinic, they are greeted with an inviting entrance that incorporates Falkbuilt elements, setting the tone for an experience that feels anything but clinical.

“This project had some unique challenges. We have the corner unit of the plaza, and it has curved walls, so we had to angle the operatories properly. We wanted to bring out the nice curve in our corridor, and Falkbuilt came up with a good design that mimics that curve,” Nima explains.

Along the striking curved hallway, the solid walls are covered in rich woodgrain Orissa Cherry Falkskin and are complemented by backlit, Matisse-inspired artwork. Frameless glass doors with sleek black hardware enhance the minimalist design, allowing natural light to flood the space.

The focus on patient comfort is evident in all seven of the operatory rooms, which feature a beautiful Falkskin woodgrain “cloud”, suspended from the ceiling, extending down to the base of the chair. The feature houses integrated advanced technology, including large-screen TVs, while the crisp white DuraFalk finished solid walls provide durability, cleanability,and contribute to the soothing, spa-like atmosphere.

“The Falkbuilt design team did a phenomenal job. We had a lot of back and forth between our designers and your designers. They were collaborative and open to ideas. They also utilized their creativity,” Nima recalls.

He was also impressed with how the construction team—the “boots on the ground”—handled the inevitable challenges of a complex prefabricated construction project. “Your team was the definition of a team player. One of our core values at Bee Family Dental is: Operate with Love and Care, and everyone on Falk’s team exemplified just that and was all-in and available.”

Reflecting on his decision to choose Falkbuilt as the clinic’s interior construction contractor, Nima is very pleased. “I come from an engineering and construction background in the energy industry. I can see when people are passionate about what they do; they're professional and proactive. That’s the value-add that Falk brings to the table. The design matters. The finishes matter. All the little details matter.”
