Color comes back in 2021
Introducing Sonoran, Falkskin color of the year

Warm, rich and earthy, like the vast desert for which it’s named, Falkbuilt designers have chosen Sonoran as our Falkskin color of the year.

“Everyone was wowed when we saw it,” says Falkbuilt designer Dessy Koutzarova, who fell in love with Sonoran at first sight. “It’s a very beautiful color and I think it’s going to add so much to our Falkskin finishes.” Falkskin, a durable 3D laminate, is already available in hundreds of colors, stone patterns and wood grains. Our designers have carefully selected another 20 stunners to add to the mix in Q2 of 2021.

Top of the heap is Sonoran. “It’s a very chic hue. I think it can be adapted for different spaces,” Dessy says. “We anticipate that it’s going to be really popular because we are finally moving away from the grey interior trends and other neutrals that have been popular for a long time.”

After the recession in 2008, greys and whites were in high demand partly because they fit the mood and partly because the neutrals worked well in wide-open spaces that were taking over at home and at work. “Open plans were big so that’s when everyone started greying out everything because you don’t have starts and stops,” says Falkbuilt designer Laura Shadow. “But people are over that. It’s time for the next thing.”
The next thing, as we move into post-pandemic design, is more defined spaces for privacy and safety, and more color. The 20 new Falkskin colors are inspired by and named for the beautiful natural spaces we have re-discovered in our North American backyard during the pandemic. We can’t wait to show them to you in the coming weeks. “It’s time for color to come back,” says Laura. As for Sonoran: “It’s soothing. It feels good, and I like that.”
