Curved glass “blew my mind”
Light pours through Massachusetts lab + office space
MOMA Therapeutics in Cambridge, Massachusetts wanted to renovate their lab and office space to better support scientific research in precision medicine and encourage collaborative as well individual work.
Working with the Falkbuilt Boston Branch, general contractor Siena Construction Corporation completed the sixth-floor space including a stunning conference area featuring curved glass, smaller meeting spaces, offices and a beautiful glass wall running the length of a lab space.
“The project came out great,” says Keith Kingdon, Senior Project Manager with Siena. “I think that the early involvement in the project helped make the process smoother. They were onsite as soon as we had the layout approved and they identified areas of concern early enough for us to work together on solutions.”
Liv Oskin, Assistant Project Manager with Siena admits to being “a little nervous” about working with the curved glass, but everything worked out. “The curved glass blew my mind it looked so good. Honestly, I’ve never seen anything like that,” she says.
Another challenge was installing room schedulers, small tablets, outside some of the glass rooms. The Siena team went to the Falkbuilt Branch to sort out the best solution. “We were trying to figure out the backing for the room scheduler tablets,” she says. “We made a few samples and just put it on some of the doors in the Falkbuilt office and I think that that helped a lot. The client could see it too, so they knew what they were getting and could pick from some of the things we did.”
Like any project, there were a few “bumps in the road.” But team work meant everything worked out just fine. “It went really well,” says Liv. “Falkbuilt was fantastic to work with, they were very, very helpful through the whole thing. I hope to work with them again.”
