When the City of Albuquerque sought to create a welcoming, multipurpose community hub in the historic Santa Barbara-Martineztown neighborhood, they turned to the Falkbuilt Albuquerque Factory Direct Branch. The entire 5,300-square-foot interior was built using Falkbuilt’s Digital Component Construction.

A Community Center for All Ages, Built for the Future

The project was 40 years in the making and Falkbuilt's prefab design and construction integration was a huge catalyst in this facility finally becoming a reality. Designed to serve every age group, the Multigenerational Center provides spaces for children’s activities, senior programs, and community meals. Key features include a spacious multi-purpose room, several classrooms, office space, and a pantry to support meal services. Falkbuilt’s offsite prefabricated construction approach allowed the project to remain on schedule and within budget, while ensuring high durability and design flexibility.

Thoughtful Design: Merging Flexibility with Light + Space

With high ceilings and expansive windows that fill the rooms with natural light, the interior of the Center balances function and beauty. Flexibility was a major design goal, as showcased by the 14-foot Alma Operable Wall in the main area. This wall allows the room to transform from a meeting and dining space to an open area, suitable for activities like pickleball.

Falkbuilt solid walls deliver durability, ease of cleaning, writeable surfaces, + acoustical protection, and were all installed for easy reconfiguration for the future. Additionally, the wall cavities allowed easy access and full visibility to wiring and plumbing, earning high praise from inspectors during the final inspection.

Now open, the Santa Barbara-Martineztown Multigenerational Center – efficient, sustainable, and adaptable - provides a welcoming space for gatherings, classes, meals, and recreation, fostering connection and engagement across generations of families for years to come.
