Fast + fabulous
Architects will circle back to Vancouver Lower Mainland Branch
Circle Productions, a top Canadian media production company in Vancouver, was looking to renovate their two-story building in the city’s thriving Pixel District. The 6,700 sq ft project included a studio for in-house shoots, plenty of flexible workspace to accommodate large visiting production crews as well as local employees.
The pandemic caused a series of interruptions and delays to the construction schedule and Circle needed “fast track” construction. Falkbuilt Vancouver Lower Mainland (VLM) Branch and Digital Component Construction saved the day.
“Falkbuilt was proposed by the General Contractor during the construction stage as an alternative system to traditional stud framing and GWB partitions,” says project lead, Marina Rosa, of Vancouver’s Rafael Santa Ana Architecture Workshop (RSAAW). “The GC worked directly with the Falkbuilt Branch while RSAAW provided construction administration support with architectural, permits and code compliance review.”
The project includes solid and glass walls, swing and sliding doors, plus millwork. “Falkbuilt provided a unified system that addressed both partitions and finishes efficiently, with clean construction and a finish standard well-suited for performance and aesthetic requirements,” says Marina. “The process adapted well to architectural requirements and clients' wishes.”
Feedback was positive and the design team at RSAAW is already thinking ahead to working with the Falkbuilt VLM Branch again. “We’re looking forward to incorporating the system in future projects, ideally bringing it into an earlier design stage to better integrate technical and design elements and minimize changes during construction.”
Circle Productions is a great example where Digital Component Construction “creates a unique space tailored to the wants and needs of the client and end user,” says Katie Madden, the Falkbuilt VLM Branch’s Business Development Manager. “This is one of Falkbuilt Vancouver Lower Mainland’s highlight projects of 2021, and we are looking forward to future projects with RSAAW.”
