Grooved walls + “can-do” attitude
Digital Component Construction brings winning combination to project
When DELV Design got to work on the new headquarters for biotech company Quantigen, just outside Indianapolis, the team was envisioning grooved wood walls to delineate between the office area and the lab space.
“As we were working through the design with the owner and the capability of local millworkers to meet not only our budget, but the schedule, it became pretty apparent that the wood walls were probably not going to happen if we stuck with a traditional construction method,” says Eric J Anderson, a Design Principal at DELV Design in Indianapolis.
Instead, DELV turned to the Falkbuilt Indianapolis Branch, which was already busy working on glass fronts for the private offices and meeting areas. “We opened up the conversation to include the wood walls and that's when we realized that Falkbuilt can definitely build these pieces and parts and construct them in the space much faster than a traditional millworker could. The added bonus was it was going to be a lot less expensive.”
Digital Component Construction delivered a striking space, exactly the aesthetic that had been discussed out of the gate. “Everybody loves it,” says Eric, who has worked with Falkbuilt on other projects.
And like previous projects, the “back and forth” with the Branch to make it all happen was easy and smooth.
“I don't think I've ever had anybody from Falkbuilt say ‘We just can't do that’ and then stop the conversation. It's always: ‘We can't do it quite this way, but here are some ways that we could get close or here's a way that might work better.’ Everybody I've worked with from Falkbuilt always brings a can-do attitude and a team mentality to the project. That’s greatly appreciated.”
