Looking to the future of interior construction in the healthcare space
Philadelphia eyecare clinic thrilled with Falkbuilt’s solid walls + millwork
When Bridget Abraham and her husband, Optometrist Dr. Mark Abraham, wanted to open a new eyecare clinic near Philadelphia, she jumped at the chance to work with the Falkbuilt Philadelphia Branch. The architect/designer and co-owner of Aegis by Abraham Eye Associates is a big believer in prefabricated construction and the “power and value it can unlock.”
Since learning about Falkbuilt, Bridget has been looking for an opportunity to try Digital Component Construction. “I have been interested in trying Falkbuilt on projects because I love the zero waste and the sustainability component,” she says. “And, I believe that you have to be the change you want to see.”
Custom Features Contributing to Next Level Design
The new clinic, which is at the forefront of technological advancements and clinical innovation, features Falkbuilt solid walls, doors and custom millwork, including the reception desk and floating shelves in the retail space at the front of the facility.
“It's more wonderful than I could have ever imagined,” she says. “It's gorgeous and it functions really well. I love the idea that the walls are extra durable and cleanable. It's great for a medical environment or any environment where you have to deal with walls getting dirty and fingerprints all over them. You don’t have to repaint. We can just scrub them off.”
As well as being durable, Bridget also loves the woodgrain Falkskin because it provides a warm, luxe look but she didn’t have to “toil through” trying to match veneers. She’s also thrilled with the acoustic performance and the quality of hardware in doors and millwork. She admits her general contractor was skeptical about working with prefab: “They were like: ‘This is the weirdest construction project we've ever done.’ They were a little resistant, but then when they saw the final product, they were blown away.”
Building the Foundation for Future Projects in the Healthcare Space
As the clinic eyes expansion, further revolutionizing the delivery and experience of eyecare, Bridget is planning to work with Falkbuilt again. “I really truly believe that this sort of construction methodology has so much potential in the healthcare space,” she says. “Our mission is to advance the future of eyecare. Now, we have a space that reflects that vision, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the process, the values of Falk, and having that alignment and partnership. It’s spectacular.”
