Making “the pain go away”

The project looked pretty straightforward.

Smart Wires, a big technology company, was moving to Durham, North Carolina and needed glass fronts for dozens of offices in their new space. The general contractor called the Falkbuilt Raleigh Branch and they started planning.

The Falkbuilt project scope soon got bigger.

“The contractor faced some extreme challenges with lead times on the solid wood doors being implemented. There was a 20-something week lead time on the conventional doors,” says Lucas Harrison of Falkbuilt Raleigh. That was going to wreak havoc with the construction schedule.

“We had a conversation internally and said: ‘How can we help make this pain go away?’ We ended up sourcing the doors from Lobello and essentially saved the timing of the install,” he says. “Falkbuilt jumped right in and we saved the day, essentially.”

The 50+ Lobello doors arrived from the Calgary manufacturer in just six weeks. They fit perfectly and look great with the glass and black powder coat frames. “The client was very happy and the architect was blown away with how good they looked. Lobello matched the stain they were going for. It was just a huge success all the way around.”

The project is “testament” to the fact Digital Component Construction works well with others. “We are so flexible and so aligned with conventional construction,” says Lucas. “We’re not working with proprietary parts and pieces or pre-cloud software. With Echo, we’re in everybody’s programs we’re using Revit we’re using Bluebeam. We just mesh so well with what everybody’s used to and comfortable with. It’s an absolute game changer.”
