Putting “a square peg in a round hole”
Digital Component Construction accommodates change in plans
National Vascular Physicians (NVP) was all set to move into a building in Maryland in late 2021, but the move fell through. So, instead of going into the space, NVP’s Falkbuilt solutions went into storage. Now, two years later, NVP has set up shop in Salem, Virginia with much of the original Falkbuilt order. Their new 3,685 sq ft outpatient clinic includes exam rooms, recovery areas, nurses’ stations, and millwork.
“We kind of had to fit a square peg into a round hole,” says Donna Looser, NVP’s Chief Development Officer. “We had a Falkbuilt design for a project that was ultimately scrapped, but it was already in production. So, it lived in a warehouse until we were able to incorporate elements of the original project into the new project. It was very convenient being able to reuse those elements.”
The site superindendent, Jeff Landis of F & S Building Innovations, enjoyed working with Digital Component Construction. “We didn’t know what to expect, never working with it before. We were scared to death, to be honest. Those fears have been put to rest,” he says. “It was quite impressive.”
NVP received lots of positive feedback from the crews onsite about the speed of construction and quality of the solutions. Donna has her own positive feedback about working with Krista Wishmeier of the Falkbuilt Phoenix Branch. “Krista is an absolute dream to work with,” Donna says. “I would recommend her to anyone. She was 100% committed to the project’s on time delivery. She was creative, she was innovative. I would, without hesitation, work with her again.”
The original project did not go as planned. But in the end, it all worked out. “I don’t think our experience was probably typical of most customers. For most, it’s probably like: ‘Here’s how we want it.’ And then you magically show up and it fits all in like little Lego pieces and it’s great. Ours was a little bit different,” says Donna. “It is so beautiful. Every single person who has been in the suite or seen a picture of the suite is blown away. The doctors love it. And we're looking forward to filling it up with patients.”
