As the Falkbuilt Des Moines Branch work at more job sites across the state, they’re hearing more contractors saying: “the future of construction is offsite prefabrication and more assembly onsite,” says Branch owner Kim Augspurger. “The solution is smart. Weirdly enough COVID-19 has created even a higher value because you have fewer people onsite, it’s cleaner and it’s inherently cleanable.”

As Kim and her team deliver Digital Component Construction across Iowa, they’re guided by core values, simple but powerful statements that are like the Super Studs of the Branch. They came up with them after brainstorming the question: “When we are at our best what does that look like?” About 700 sticky notes on the wall were distilled into these five credos:

1. Choose Your Voice:

“Don’t listen to self doubt but believe in yourself and have a can-do attitude.”

2. Sweat the Details:

“Think through as many details as you can and expect the unexpected. When you get hit by something you didn’t expect, choose your voice and sweat some more details. It’s how we roll.”

3. Lead the Way:

“We don’t want to just respond to the market, we want to lead the market and lead our clients to better solutions. That’s why Falkbuilt is such a good fit; it’s fun and exciting.”

4. Wear the Shoes:

“We took work boots, pumps, tennis shoes and painted them to remind us to ‘walk a mile’ in our clients’ shoes and make sure you’re always doing what they need you to do.”

5. Work to Win/Win:

“One of the reasons we’re having success is we’ve always worked hard to play well in the sandbox with others. We win when everyone wins. We’re always trying to work toward that so when a contractor hears that we’re going to be on a project, they’re like: ‘Great! we love working with them!’”
